Thank you for taking the time to have at look at our community project, here is a brief outline of what we are doing.
“So you’d like to save the world” is a non profit organisation that runs and funds community projects. Our vision is a sustainable central organisation where we can identify, support and fund various projects and organisations by partnering with like minded people. We provide a direct link between the donor and the project. Allowing for accountability, transparency and donor involvement. It is more personal and people get to see who they are helping and how they are changing lives.
Our pilot project is called “Food for thought” and will be run on the South Coast in the Malangeni reserve. Over 3 million South African children go hungry everyday, thousands go to school on an empty stomach. Many of these kids walk great distances, burning up the precious energy they need to concentrate and study. Our aim is to provide a nutritious first meal of the day for children who arrive at school on an empty stomach.
Our immediate need is R820 a month to feed 34 kids everyday. The next goal is to grow the project and extend its reach.

What if that person was you?
I usually have a coffee in the morning and a snack in the afternoon. I'm giving them up to support this incredibly worthy organization. I commend all those involved and ask all others to join in giving what they can...like the money you may spend for a dessert or extra beer.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the interest in what we are doing. Unfortunately we aren't up and running for donations online yet but will be shortly. The sponsoring options are as follows; R345 feeds 15 kids for a month (20kg bale of food) R820 feeds the entire school of 34 for a month (2 x 20kg bales) and R24 feeds one kid for a month. If you are interested in any of those please contact me on paul@odc-sa.com and i can give you bank details. On the hands dirty side of things. We are up and running in Durban but i would love to expand to other cities or provinces. Drop me a test mail on the above address and i can give you more details. I have a few guys helping me with logistics so if you identify a school down there we can set it up and get food delivered. You could then be the contact person on that side.
