Nonkhanyiso - Umlazi

Had a busy morning, winding my way through Umlazi to K section. We had a call from Nonkhanyiso who needed some help. Her family are unemployed and destitute. They have no food in the house and so family members can't take there medication. We somehow managed to find them and drop off some supplies. The four hampers of food will last a family of four, four months. Thanks to Nick Young-Thompson for sorting out the food for us so quickly.

We take a full cupboard and full stomach for granted. God only knows what it feels like to wake up without food in your house and no food for sick parents or five month old babies. So you'd like to save the world is an ongoing project and currently relies on the good will of our fellow South Africans. If you want to be involved or help, one person can make a difference.

It is as simple as buying R20 for electricity or sponsoring a months supply of food for a few R100. In a few hours we have managed to change a families Easter weekend.

God bless! Paul

Food for thought - Friday 21st August

Hello,

We had an awesome morning with Uthando on friday. We dropped off a few months supply of food, a box of books from The Disney Book Club and a huge pile of crayons, paints, pens and all things arty. The kids were full of energy and totally amazed at all the goodies.

Thanks to everyone who helped out and contributed in any way. A big thanks to Patrick Mcgee Photography who photographed the event for us.

I have been driving around listening to “If today was your last day” by Nickelback now, non-stop for 5 days. I am attempting to brainwash myself and I know that if I can just keep this song in my head for the next few years I might just pull off saving the world. A little presumptuous I know. But what if one person could save the world? Doesn’t the world need to be saved? The song is an uplifting anthem for changing times, it’s a call to action

“Each day's a gift
 and not a given right.
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind.
Try to take the path less traveled by. The first step you take
is the longest stride

If today was your last day, and tomorrow was too late.
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?

Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past? Donate every dime you have?...
”

So you would like to save the world

Thank you for taking the time to have at look at our community project, here is a brief outline of what we are doing.

“So you’d like to save the world” is a non profit organisation that runs and funds community projects. Our vision is a sustainable central organisation where we can identify, support and fund various projects and organisations by partnering with like minded people. We provide a direct link between the donor and the project. Allowing for accountability, transparency and donor involvement. It is more personal and people get to see who they are helping and how they are changing lives.

Our pilot project is called “Food for thought” and will be run on the South Coast in the Malangeni reserve. Over 3 million South African children go hungry everyday, thousands go to school on an empty stomach. Many of these kids walk great distances, burning up the precious energy they need to concentrate and study. Our aim is to provide a nutritious first meal of the day for children who arrive at school on an empty stomach.

Our immediate need is R820 a month to feed 34 kids everyday. The next goal is to grow the project and extend its reach.

If you have any questions or would like to assist us please contact me via this blog.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look! Have a great day.

Regards
Paul
